Infant and Child and Adolescent Health

PHWC 2026's Infant, Child, and Adolescent Health session will emphasize promoting the health and well-being of all children/adolescents by implementing effective public health interventions. Areas such as child nutrition, immunization, early childhood development, and childhood disease prevention will be discussed.
 
Participants at the PHWC 2026 will share knowledge on increasing access to quality healthcare for children/adolescents, improving pediatric healthcare delivery, and supporting both the physical and mental health of children/adolescents. There will be a focus on community-based programming and policy development to promote healthy lifestyles from infancy through adolescence.
 
Through this session we will have a chance to spotlight the importance of early screening, school health programs and family-centred care for holistic child and adolescent development. This session will also provide opportunities to discuss how to address the social determinants of health that affect children and adolescents, including education, environment, and socioeconomic status. Participants will share information about successful global initiatives that work to reduce the number of children who die and to provide a better quality of life for adolescents. The session will focus on creating strong health care systems, building a competent health workforce and utilizing digital health technologies for enhanced reach & care delivery. Ultimately, this session is a collaborative effort to create innovative ways of supporting healthy children & adolescents around the globe.
 
In public health, Infant health is one of the top priorities as it focusses on the wellbeing of babies from the duration of birth to their first year of age. It ensures mental and physical fitness of the baby. Parental care, immunizations and breastfeeding are crucial parameters that are ensured in infant health.
After few years of birth, the growth of children becomes extremely crucial phase of life. This requires proper nutrition along with special care. Various programs are created by government and non-government bodies like vaccination camps, mid-day meal, etc. to ensure proper growth and development of children
Adolescence is the age where drastic changes occur in the body. These changes include both physical and hormonal changes. This involves careful assessment of psychological, physical and mental wellbeing of individual.
